Chair of Trustees (Interim) Helen Vesty

Helen joined TCIL as a Board trustee in November 2016 and has recently taken up the role of interim Chair for an, as yet, unspecified length of time.

Helen joined us after a successful 28 year career with the Open University, a Higher Education organisation which is entirely ‘open’ to students from a wide and diverse range of backgrounds and previous educational abilities. As the Assistant Director of the Open University North West Regional Centre, Helen was responsible for the management of large teams of staff providing information, advice and guidance to students and the operational support services to over 20,000 students studying at any one time.

Helen now works for Oakdale Occupational Health Ltd, a healthcare organisation, concerned with the assessment and support of employees’ health and welfare in the workplace.

Helen lives in Sale with her family and enjoys decorating, cycling, cooking, ‘socialising’ and long walks in the country. Helen joined TCIL to do something worthwhile and give something back to the community which has been so supportive to her and her family for many years.

Trustee Stephen Ratchford

Local resident Stephen Ratchford joined the trustee board of Trafford CIL in 2014 after a spell of volunteering between 2011-2014. During his volunteer time at Trafford CIL, Stephen covered reception to general admin duties and also was involved with the Citizens Advocacy Project. One of the main reasons for becoming a trustee was that Stephen want to give something back to the community because of the help provided by Trafford CIL. Being on the board, Stephen finds it very rewarding especially in the decision making process that he is involved in.

Stephen is a passionate Manchester United supporter and attends some live matches; he enjoys listening to radio drama/comedy and is a keen reader. Stephen likes writing poetry; so much so that he has won third prize in a Trafford Housing Trust writing competition this year.
